Don Blair

Morehead State mourned the loss of local physician and alumnus Dr. Donald Everett Blair (62), 80, of Morehead, who passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, at his home.

Blair earned a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction from Morehead State University and a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from the University of Louisville. He specialized in family medicine and allergies.

A physician in Morehead for nearly half a century, Blair was a frequent lecturer at MSU who also served as assistant professor of family medicine at the University of Kentucky for more than 20 years and was on the medical staff at the Life Care Center in Morehead. He served as president of the Rowan County Medical Association and was a member of the Kentucky Medical Association and American Medical Association.

Shortly before his death, the MSU Foundation Inc. announced the establishment of the Dr. Don and Alta Blair Family Scholarship Endowment. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student from Rowan County. Last year’s inaugural recipient was Benjamin Hutchinson, a freshman nursing major. The endowment is part of MSU’s Soar to New Heights Scholarship Campaign.
