Morehead State beach volleyball made history by becoming the first NCAA Division I-sanctioned beach volleyball program in the state of Kentucky last season. The Eagles hosted the state’s first NCAA Division I-sanctioned matches thanks to a first-of-its-kind partnership with Fazoli’s of Morehead to name the new campus beach volleyball facility Fazoli’s Breadstick Beach.
Fazoli’s Breadstick Beach is located on the east end of campus, adjacent to the baseball facility (Allen Field) and just north of the EAGLE Center. The facility features three NCAA-size courts, as well as a wooden deck for fans to watch matches, a rinse shower and water bottle filling station. Just outside the facility is a hillside, which also provides great viewing opportunities for fans.
For the season opener and first contest in the new facility, MSU hosted Ohio Valley Conference rival Austin Peay on April 2. MSU dropped both matches 5-0. This marked the second time the two traditionally indoor rivals have met in the sand.
