As one of the best public universities in the South, Morehead State University has many qualities that help contribute to the unique nature of the authentic MSU experience: excellent academic programs, incredible facilities, experienced faculty, caring staff and a commitment to student success.
Throughout MSU’s more than 130 years as a higher education institution, it is the students that give MSU its life and purpose. The people who come to MSU seeking a degree and the knowledge and skills to achieve their life-long dreams are the heart of the Eagle Nation.
Students are at the core of MSU’s mission and we are committed to investing in and supporting their success through the newly launched Soar to New Heights Scholarship Campaign.
The campaign’s goal is to raise $15 million over the next three years to expand scholarship opportunities for students. These scholarships will focus on recruitment, retention, student enrichment and degree completion.
“Morehead State University is a very special place. Our academic programming is vital and our facilities are extremely important. However, during my time here, I have learned that MSU is a special place primarily because of the people,” said MSU President Jay Morgan.
At MSU about 90 percent of our undergraduate students receive some type of financial aid. However, private dollars are critical to meet the needs of our students and to reduce their student loan debt. This campaign will run for a very short time frame and, with your help, we will reach the goal quickly and begin to see current and future Eagles soar to new heights.
“Every year, thousands of students come to Morehead State University to pursue their dreams. The decision to attend or stay enrolled often comes down to the math. How much will it cost? What level of debt will I incur? No student or family should be forced into the heartbreaking decision of whether to pursue their college education because of the burden of loan debt,” said Jim Shaw, vice president for university advancement. “Our hope is that the Soar to New Heights Scholarship Campaign will alleviate this burden for many of our students.”
