As we kick off this scholarship campaign to help support our students and ensure their success, we are strengthening our commitment to our mission. Morehead State prepares students for success in a global environment and we have committed to engage in scholarship, both with students and with faculty. We promote diversity of people and ideas and seek out innovation, collaboration and creative thinking, and help our graduates serve our communities to improve the quality of life.
As part of this endeavor, we hope to keep you – our friends, alumni, peers and others – informed of the success and progress of our faculty, staff and students. We’ve changed the format of Statement Magazine. Previously, Statement was the alumni magazine and was primarily focused on information for alumni and donors. We are broadening the scope of the magazine, so that Statement Magazine is now “the Magazine of Morehead State University.”
We’ll be highlighting the research and creativity of our faculty, staff and students, as well as important initiatives that the University is undertaking to improve the success of our students. We’ve moved to an online format which allows us to provide you with more videos, pictures and stories throughout the year. We’ll officially publish twice a year – summer and winter, but we’re kicking off with this special spring issue.
This issue highlights the Soar to New Heights Scholarship Campaign. Throughout MSU’s more than 130 years as a higher education institution, our students have been our mission. Those who come to MSU seeking an education to achieve their life-long dreams are at the core of what we do.
Morehead State is committed to investing in and supporting their success through this new campaign. The goal is to raise $15 million over the next three years to expand scholarship opportunities for students. These scholarships will focus on recruitment, retention, student enrichment and degree completion.
In this issue we’ll highlight some of the alumni and friends of the University who have already committed to this campaign and to supporting student success. We’ll also share stories of the success of our alumni and current students, and the dedication of those who have helped them along their journey.
We look forward to sharing more of these success stories in the next issue this summer. Thank you for your support as Morehead State continues to be “a light to the mountains” and beyond.
